After reading and enjoying the first book in this series: Housewife Chronicles I, I was very curious about Housewife Chronicles II. I wondered what it would be like and what it would be about. Now,  after reading Housewife Chronicles II, I can say it is not anything like I thought it would be. But wait, make no mistake, I loved this second book in the Housewife Chronicles series.

Author, Jennifer Snow, is quickly becoming my favorite author of women’s fiction.  And Housewife Chronicles provides readers an interesting look into the haughty lives of a group women belonging to the suburban upper crust.

This time around, the fascinating housewives of local suburbia, get pulled into another murder mystery. However, in the current murder case, the main suspect is Grace. I guess Grace just can’t stay out of trouble. As an author, Grace has been having trouble with writer’s block. Muriel,  while fairly mild mannered, is becoming exasperated with the Grace’s failure to produce any further pages of her manuscript. Muriel, finds herself under pressure. She has been warned, if the writer’s book isn’t produced soon, the publishing company will pull the book deal and drop the writer. And to make matters worse, there is a new young editor who seems poised to take Muriel’s place.

So what happens next? Well…someone winds up dead! Do the Housewives sit back and accept who the police think is the likely suspect? No way, instead, they band together to figure out who really is the murderer. Though the housewives may go about it in some interesting ways, these ladies mean business. Even Gina joins in the group’s efforts as she totes her, still-nursing baby, along for the housewives’ murder investigation.

Housewife Chronicles was fun to read because the story provides readers with a legitimate murder mystery to solve. And this fast-paced story keeps readers interested and turning the pages. I particularly love the unexpected dry wit that comes across in the story as clever and/or sarcastic. Simply put, it made me laugh out loud while reading. When you combine all the elements of Housewife Chronicles II, you end up with an outstanding dark-humor story.

After reading Housewife Chronicles I and II, as well as Jennifer Snow’s thriller novels (written under the pen-name of J.M. Winchester), I truly believe Jennifer can darn well write anything she puts her mind to…and she does it well.

At this point in time, I don’t know if there will be any further books in the Housewife Chronicles series. But what I can say for sure is, I will be reading many more books by Jennifer Snow. Jennifer has written many books with women-focused plots, and she does it exceedingly well. That in and of itself makes me respect her efforts. It is simply my pleasure to do what I can to support women authors, especially one as multi-talented as Jennifer Snow. So, if you are a woman and you belong to a women’s book club, be sure to make it point to read some books by Jennifer Snow.

And by the way, in my podcast book review, Season 3, Episode 10: Spotlight On Jennifer Snow, Jennifer actually provided a message to her readers via my podcast show. How cool is that? So be sure to give it a listen.
